This 3 Days Gorilla Trekking and Batwa experience in Bwindi starts and ends in Kampala with Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in South Western part of Uganda. It is approximately an 8 hours drive from Kampala the capital city for the pearl of Africa Uganda.
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Bwindi is a big habitant for mountain gorillas in Uganda harboring over 300 of them and this is almost half of the World’s gorilla population. While trekking, you will have an opportunity to be within meters of these magnificent apes, sharing in their daily lives and experiencing their day-to-day activities. Mountain gorillas are extremely rare with only an estimated 880 remaining in the wild. This is an experience you won’t soon forget!
Batwa trail experience
The Batwa where the original inhabitants of the forests in Bwindi, Mgahinga, the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga in Congo. Most were forced out of the forests but without compensation or proper adjustment to the modern life.
Relaxation on Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush as well as green-terraced hills that reach a height of (2,200 – 2,478m). But it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that makes it most magical for you could admire all day.
Day 1 – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your tour guide / driver shall pick you from the Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe early morning at 7am and set off a long drive to Southwest to Bwindi National Park with en route stopover at the equator for experimentation and photography and lunch break in Mbarara. You will proceed to Bwindi National Park reaching early in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/hotel.

Day 2 – Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Batwa Trails and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.
This will be an eventful day and you need to wake up at around 6am. As you take breakfast, request the hotel to prepare for you parked lunch just in case the trekking activity goes on past mid-day. The driver will take you to the park offices so that you are in time for the briefing from the park ranger-guide which starts at 7:30am. The briefing covers everything you must know about gorilla trekking including the gorilla groups in the sector, history of the forest and what to expect. After the briefing, you will be assigned a gorilla family along with 7 other travelers. The Park Guides will offer you a hiking stick and a chance to hire porters to help you with any heavy luggage/cameras.
After everyone is assembled, you will begin tracking the primates. Gorilla trekking can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the gorilla family you are tracking and their location on the day of the trek. Once you get to them, you are allowed only one hour of observation. Use this time to study the group and individual members. Do not forget to take some videos and photos or else no one will know that you ever took part in such a fascinating activity. Also, mountain gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 90%. After spending time with the primates, you will be led back to the starting point for your certificate of participation. You will find our office Guide waiting to take you back to the hotel for lunch and rest.
Batwa trail
Late in the afternoon, you will be taken to visit the Batwa pygmies of Bwindi. The Batwa where the original inhabitants of the forests in Bwindi, Mgahinga, the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga in Congo. Most were forced out of the forests but without compensation or proper adjustment to the modern life. The nature walk will offer you an opportunity to learn about their ancient ways of life and the struggles to adapt to modern life outside the forest.

Day 3 – Transfer to Kampala
You will have a relaxed morning breakfast; with a spectacular view of the Bunyonyi little islands. Right in your sight. There after you will embark on your journey back to Kampala and eventually you will be dropped off at the airport or at your hotel in Kampala. Thus this will bring our 3 days Gorilla Trekking and Batwa experience in Bwindi to an end.
